8) – Bridges and tunnels:

In Istanbul, there are three huge suspension bridges over the Bosphorus. There is a huge tunnel that connects the European and Asian sections of Istanbul and passes under the waters of the strait (Marmaray Tunnel) with a length of 14 km, including 1.4 km under the waters of the strait, consisting of two floors for the passage of cars, trains and the metro line in both directions. And it accommodates the passage of 150,000 people per hour. It took nine years to complete it at a cost of 3 billion euros.

9) New Istanbul Canal:

It is an artificial channel parallel to the Bosphorus Strait, on the European side of the city, with a length of 45 km, a distance of 30 km from the strait, a base width of 275 meters, and a depth of 2075 meters. It connects between the Sea of ​​Marmara and the Black Sea. It is currently being constructed, and it leads To form an island between the strait and the canal, bordered by a shore on the Black Sea, the Sea of ​​Marmara, the Bosphorus Strait, and the New Canal. Work on it began in 2013, after the necessary studies were completed, and the necessary studies and plans were prepared for the reconstruction of the areas surrounding the canal, which will practically form a new city.

This channel initially aims to reduce the traffic congestion of ships in the Bosphorus Strait, and will be able to accommodate the passage of 160 ships per day. The canal will be accompanied by the construction of ports, a large container terminal on the Black Sea near Istanbul’s new airport, and logistics centers. Several new artificial islands will also be created by the soil resulting from the excavation of the canal, and the area will be connected by express trains.

And in March of this year 2022, the construction of the first portable bridge on the canal began at the site of the Dardanelles Strait in the Gallipoli region, with a length of 4 km, linking the continent of Asia and the continent of Europe, and it is expected to be completed in the next year 2023.

10) Water networks:

Clean drinking water networks cover all areas of residential communities in the country. Irrigation water networks cover the vast majority of agricultural lands.

Turkey has more than 600 water dams, some of which are comparable to the largest dams in the world, and some of them produce a total of 31 thousand megawatts of electrical energy per hour, and thus it is considered the first in Europe and the second in the world in this respect.

11) Electricity:

Turkey produces its entire needs of electric energy without any deficit. About 57% of it comes from sources such as coal and natural gas.
